About the Client

Our client, a leading provider of interior systems specializing in high-quality drylining solutions, is looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to oversee their Drylining Division. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a team of six Quantity Surveyors (QSs) and drive commercial performance across a range of residential, commercial, and industrial projects.
This role is perfect for a dynamic and commercially astute professional with a proven track record in construction or interiors, who thrives on responsibility and delivering results.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities
  • Team Leadership:
    • Manage and mentor a team of six Quantity Surveyors, ensuring they meet performance targets and develop their expertise.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Commercial Management:
    • Oversee the financial and commercial aspects of all projects within the Drylining Division.
    • Develop and implement commercial strategies to optimize profitability and drive growth.
    • Lead on valuations, variations, and final account reviews, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.
    • Risk and Compliance:
      • Identify and manage potential commercial risks to safeguard the business.
      • Ensure all projects adhere to legal, contractual, and corporate standards.
      • Client Engagement:
        • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.
        • Lead contract negotiations to secure favorable outcomes.
        • Performance Reporting:
          • Provide clear and accurate commercial reporting to the senior leadership team.
          • Monitor project cash flow and profitability, making recommendations to improve financial performance.

            About You

            To excel in this role, you will need:

            • Qualifications:

              • A degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

              • Professional membership (e.g., RICS, CIOB) is desirable but not essential.

            • Experience:

              • A solid background as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor, ideally within the drylining or construction sector.

              • A track record of managing teams and delivering commercial success across multiple projects.

              • Skills:

                • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.

                • Expert knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC) and cost management.

                • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.

                • Proficiency in financial and project management software
