About the Role

The Junior Buyer will support the procurement process for a variety of projects, focusing on obtaining the best possible value for materials and services while ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project specifications. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills, who is eager to develop a career in procurement within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the procurement of materials, plant, and equipment for various projects, including rainscreen facades, roofing, and cladding.
  • Raise purchase orders and manage the order process through to delivery, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Liaise with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate prices, and secure favorable terms.
  • Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
  • Monitor and track deliveries to ensure materials arrive on schedule and in good condition.
  • Resolve any discrepancies or issues with orders or deliveries.
  • Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and material needs.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of supplier relationships.
  • Support the senior buying team in various procurement activities and projects.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
  • Contribute to cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement.

About the Candidate

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

  • Good negotiation and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Knowledge of construction materials and the procurement process is desirable.

  • Previous experience in a purchasing or administrative role within the construction industry is an advantage.

  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CIPS) are desirable but not essential.

  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
