About the Role

T he Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a pivotal role in managing the financial aspects of our projects, ensuring profitability and cost control. This role demands a professional with extensive experience in drylining or similar sub-contracting sectors, strong commercial acumen, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of QS professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Management: Oversee the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and detailed cost plans.
  • Cost Control: Manage all costs relating to projects, from the initial calculations to the final account.
  • Valuations & Variations: Prepare and submit interim valuations, variations, and final accounts to clients.
  • Tendering: Assist in preparing tenders and procurement strategies, ensuring competitiveness and value for money.
  • Contract Administration: Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and address disputes or claims effectively.
  • Client Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior QS staff, providing guidance and promoting professional development.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage potential risks to project finances and timelines.
  • Reporting: Provide detailed and accurate reports to the Commercial Manager and senior management team.

About the Candidate

Essential:

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within the drylining, interiors, or subcontracting sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of JCT and NEC contract forms.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficient in cost management software and MS Office Suite.

Desirable:

  • RICS accreditation or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with BIM and digital construction tools.
