About the Role

Purpose of the Role

To assist the quantity surveying team in managing costs and maximising profits for the business, with a focus on achieving business goals.

Key Dimensions and Scope

  • People: No direct reports.
  • Financial: Contribution towards profit goals.
  • Metrics:
    • Financial:
      • Gross Profit – KPI for each period.
      • Growth – KPI for each period.
    • Customer:
      • Quality management minimum standards: 85%.
      • Repeat business as a work-winning strategy.
      • Internal:
        • Safety management minimum standards: 90%.
        • Business support management system: 85%.

          Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

          Growth

          • Assist in ensuring project risks and opportunities are effectively communicated to manage client expectations.
          • Help build strategic relationships with clients.

          Profit

          • Assist in producing applications for payment, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and maximising cash flow.
          • Support the Quantity Surveyor in managing project CVRs, identifying risks and opportunities.
          • Help control costs through effective management of site spend, including labour, materials, and plant.
          • Produce weekly cost reports.
          • Assist in valuing additional works and changes to maximise profitability.
          • Process operative wages against agreed and communicated project rates.
          • Ensure additional works/dayworks are recovered or defect costs are reported to the site team for mitigation.
          • Assist in scheduling material and labour values to improve material loading and labour valuation on projects.

          Health & Safety

          • Support the identification and maintenance of high health and safety standards.
          • Gain an understanding of the company’s safe system of work for presentation in client meetings when required.

          Quality

          • Support the company in upholding the highest possible standards.
          • Work to business documents and the Business Management System (BMS), raising improvement ideas as identified.
          • Gain an understanding of the company’s quality compliance system.
          • Ensure that operative wages align with client and operational expectations for compliance.
          • Support the management of defective works from a commercial perspective.
          • Fully understand the final agreed project specification/scope of works from the Estimating team.

          Key Objectives

          • Achieve Gross Profit targets as per the KPI for the period.
          • Support the achievement of growth targets as per the KPI for the period.
